Mary & Martha Restoration Clinic (MMRC) was developed for the restoration of mind, body and spirit of women experiencing domestic violence with a primary goal to stop domestic violence. MMRC is a catalyst for women seeking to restore their life from abuse, violence, addiction and hopelessness to one of wholeness and health. With Luke 10:42 as the guiding principle, this project empowers women to regain a sense of self-worth, self-esteem, dignity and grace, as well as develop life skills that will enable them to get and keep a job, plan for permanent housing and self-sufficiency, in essence to “choose the good part,” which is Jesus Christ. MMRC provides emergency and transitional housing to survivors of domestic violence and potentially homeless women aging out of State custody or exiting the Tennessee correctional system. Many with young children are able to receive services. Eighteen (18) women and five (5) children received services in 2008. Three families were victims of domestic violence. MMRC recently received a grant from Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee to provide support for job search activities and curriculum material to prevent recidivism.
