Out-of-School-Time

The OST or Out-of-School-Time Program provides high quality services to children in kindergarten through the sixth grade during the crucial after-school hours of 3 - 6 PM and at other times when children are out of school.  Our major goal is to help children maximize their potential - make the most of their talents, abilities, skills and resources.  This goal is accomplished through two components:

C.A.R.E. Changing Attitudes and Renewing Excellence Corps After-School Care operates from 3 - 6 PM, Monday through Friday during the school year.  Children are transported from area schools to our program location at Cathedral of Praise for homework assistance/tutoring, math, reading and science enhancements and social development.  Parent participation is an important part of the program and monthly parent meetings or programs are held.  Parents are also welcome to visit the program at any time to observe or participate in an activity.

A 21st Century Community Learning Centers grant provides financial support for low to moderate income families to be able to access the program.  Fifty (50) children currently participate in the program.  Since the inception of the program in 2005, grant funds from the Tennessee Department of Education have provided support for over 170 children.

CARE Corps begins a week following the opening of Metro Nashville Public Schools.  Registration and enrollment forms are available at the program site.

Summer Enrichment Program (SEP) - The Summer Enrichment Program operates for ten weeks during the summer as a full-day summer camp.  The SEP begins a week after the close of Metro Nashville Public Schools.  Program hours are from 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM, Monday through Friday.  The weekly fe

e includes breakfast, lunch, and a snack, special class fees, such as swimming, and most field trip entry fees.  A ratio of one adult to fifteen children is maintained in the SEP.

The SEP has a unique curriculum that includes arts education - music, dance, drama, speech and visual arts; sports - tennis, swimming, golf; educational institutes, such as foreign languages or cooking, with related field trips; and literacy and language enrichment.  The SEP is open to children five (5) years of age, who have completed Kindergarten, up to age twelve.

Registration for the SEP begins in February.  Registration and enrollment forms are available at the program site and on the news and events page.
